After one more night in Bucharest after leaving Brasov, we were once again at the airport and on our way to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. This time we would stay for much longer than an 8 hour layover, giving the sprawling modern city which sprouted right out of the barren desert a proper visit.
After nearly six months of traveling we decided we wanted to stay in one spot for awhile and relax. To cook our own meals in our own kitchen and not worry about being packed and ready to catch an early bus or plane. We discovered beautiful Brasov, Romania. A great place to spend three weeks relaxing and exploring Transylvania, ancient castles like Peles Castle, Dracula's Castle, and Just in time for Oktoberfest!
Day 165 of our travels we found ourselves in Bucharest, Romania. Working our way south through eastern Europe to the middle east, we stopped in Bucharest, a place that was never part of our original plan. We wanted to stay in one spot for awhile in order to relax and not feel the pressures of constantly repacking our stuff and traveling.
On our way to Romania after Stockholm we had the opportunity to explore the city of Riga, Latvia on a 15 hour layover and collect another stamp in our passports. Beautiful and historic downtown Riga is easily reachable via a short bus ride from the airport, and easily walkable once there.
